The life of the World’s First Female Fighter Pilot, Sabiha Gökçen, became a documentary. The documentary, which aims to introduce modern Turkish women to the world, will meet the audience in Antalya with the contributions of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, on the anniversary of the “Given the Right to Vote and Be Elected to Turkish Women”.
“Turkish Girl, Sky Girl, Ataturk Girl”, which tells the successful career and extraordinary life story of Sabiha Gökçen, the world’s first female fighter pilot; The documentary titled “Sabiha Gökçen” will be shown at Atatürk Cultural Center on Tuesday, December 5, at 18.00. “Within the scope of the anniversary events of the Granting of the Right to Vote and Be Elected to Turkish Women, a talk will be held at the end of the screening, which will meet with the audience with the contributions of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. In the interview, Producer-Director Gülşah Çeliker will tell the story of the documentary, which was created after 5 years of work.
SHEDS LIGHT ON THE HISTORY OF THE REPUBLIC
In the documentary; The history of the Republic of Turkey in general and the history of aviation in particular, as well as the themes of peace and women in Ataturk’s Turkey, were discussed together. In the documentary called ‘Turkish Girl, Sky Girl, Atatürk Girl: Sabiha Gökçen’, archives obtained from many countries, especially Russia, America, France, Greece and Yugoslavia, were used with a serious team work. The publication of these archives for the first time in Turkey added further value to the documentary. In the 52-minute documentary; In addition to the special interviews with Sabiha Gökçen while she was alive, there are also interviews with valuable names such as the famous historian Cemal Kutay and Atatürk’s adopted daughter Ülkü Adatepe, İsmet İnönü’s daughter Özden Toker, and Korkut Efe, one of Turkey’s first jet pilots.
