Solidarity Vigil in Syria for Al Mayadeen’s Martyred Journalists
Palestinian factions in Syria held a vigil in solidarity with Al Mayadeen’s martyrs Farah Omar, Rabih Me’mari, and Hussein Akil, in addition to all Palestinians who were killed by “Israel” during its recent aggression on Gaza.
During the vigil, the attendees raised banners bearing the names of Al Mayadeen’s journalists who were killed in Lebanon by Israeli airstrikes. alongside photos of Palestinian children massacred during weeks of brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza.
On his account, Ramez Mustafa, the Secretary-General of the Follow-up Committee for Palestinian Factions, affirmed that “Israeli terrorism cannot come between Al Mayadeen and its acts of Resistance,” emphasizing confidence in the network, “which has sacrificed blood and strained efforts, and has shown solidarity in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria, to continue exposing the truth.
Khalaf Al-Miftah, the head of the International Al-Quds Foundation, stated that Al Mayadeen has been targeted because it managed to break the Western media monopoly, which impacted global public opinion. He pointed out that the media battle is equally important as the battlefield because it is a battle for public opinion.
This comes just one day after a group of journalists and activists held a vigil outside Telesur network’s building in Caracas on Saturday in solidarity with Al Mayadeen’s martyrs Farah Omar, Rabih Me’mari, and Hussein Akil, in addition to all the journalists who were killed by “Israel” during its recent aggression on Gaza.
It’s important to highlight that the number of journalists killed in Gaza has reached at least 63 since the start of the Israeli aggression. The deliberate targeting by the occupation is part of its strategy to eliminate evidence, obscure chances to document its war crimes, and undermine the Palestinian narrative.
In addition to targeting Palestinian journalists in Gaza, “Israel” also targeted our colleagues in Lebanon.
On November 21, our beloved colleagues Farah, Rabih, and Hussein, were martyred in an Israeli airstrike that directly targeted them in southern Lebanon while performing their professional duty in covering events at the Lebanese-Palestinian border.
The delegations of sympathizers continue to gather at the courtyard of Al Mayadeen channel to offer condolences for their martyrdom.
