Sapling and Seed Support to Farmers in Bursa
In line with the rural development targets of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, a total of 235 thousand cherry, almond and walnut saplings and sainfoin seeds were distributed to 9 farmers in Harmancık and Keles districts.
The Metropolitan Municipality, which supports farmers in Bursa in many areas, from the supply of seedlings and saplings to ensuring quality production, from equipment support to the sales and marketing of products, continues its support at full speed to increase quality production in agriculture. In cooperation with the Metropolitan Municipality, Bursa Provincial Livestock Development Association (HAGEL) and District Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry, saplings and seeds were distributed to producers in Harmancık and Keles. In addition to the farmers, Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Arif Bayrak, Keles District Governor Ertuğrul Arslan, Harmancık District Governor Esma Atasever, Keles Mayor Mehmet Keskin, Harmancık Mayor Yılmaz Ataş and Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Acar attended the distribution ceremonies held in both districts.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony of 235 thousand saplings and sainfoin seeds to a total of 9 farmers in both districts, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Arif Bayrak said that Bursa, which stands out in the field of agriculture, is the supplier of the Marmara Region. Stating that 34 percent of Bursa is agricultural land, Arif Bayrak said that they continue to support farmers to protect this important potential. Bayrak said, “As the Metropolitan Municipality, we continue our support to our farmers. To date, we have distributed 1 million kilos of seeds, 8 million 100 thousand seedlings, 310 thousand saplings, and 510 agricultural machines and equipment. We also made our resources more efficient by building 8 irrigation ponds and 36 irrigation facilities. “May God make these saplings fruitful for our farmers, may they be beneficial,” he said.
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Acar said that Bursa is one of the leading provinces in agricultural production in Turkey due to its climate and geographical location. Acar thanked the Metropolitan Municipality and HAGEL for these supports provided to increase the income of Keles and Harmancık farmers and to provide added value to the economy with quality products.
Stating that Keles is one of the important districts in terms of agriculture, Keles District Governor Ertuğrul Arslan noted that the distributed saplings will strengthen the farmers of the region.
Harmancık District Governor Esma Atasever reminded that the vacant areas in the district will be utilized with these projects.
75 thousand saplings
Stating that 75 thousand saplings have been distributed to producers in the district by the Metropolitan Municipality to date, Keles Mayor Mehmet Keskin said, “These supports will continue to increase in the coming period. We will have more productive years. “I hope these fruits will grow quickly and become a source of income for our producers,” he said.
Stating that they know very well that the Metropolitan Municipality is always on the side of the farmers, Harmancık Mayor Yılmaz Ataş said, “We are always thinking about how we can be more beneficial to our farmers and how we can contribute to our production. Hopefully, these products will meet our fertile lands and contribute to our growers and the country’s economy. “Good luck and good luck,” he said.
After their speeches, cherry, almond, walnut saplings and sainfoin seeds were delivered to the farmers by the protocol members.
