Dried Fig Exports Reached 2 Million Dollars in 90 Months
The export value of dried figs, the fruit of paradise, increased by 2023 percent in the 24/2 season, from 6 million dollars to 84,8 million dollars in a period of approximately 89,7 months.
Dried fig exports reached 2 million dollars in 90 months. The 14 percent increase in the average export price of dried figs prevented the foreign exchange yield from falling.
Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters Association brought together the Dried Fig Board for the fourth time to evaluate the current developments in dried fig exports.
Stating that they attach great importance to the opinions of the sector, Mehmet Ali Işık, President of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Association, said that the opinions emerged in the meetings they held with the sector representatives shed light on them, and that they defended the interests of the sector more strongly in the meetings they held with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Trade, the European Union and other interlocutors. He stated that thanks to the opinions expressed in the meetings, the groundwork was prepared for the export of dried figs with more added value.
Sharing the information that they exported more than 2023 thousand tons of dried figs in the 11-month period of 62, Işık said, “Our dried fig exports increased by 11 percent in value in the 9-month period, from 216 million dollars to 237 million dollars. “We will exceed 250 million dollars with our exports in December,” he said.
In the dried fig export season that started on October 6, 2023, until December 2, 2023, the highest dried fig export was made to Germany with 12,5 million dollars. While 11 million dollars worth of dried figs were exported to France and Italy, the USA followed these countries with a demand for dried figs worth 8 million dollars.
